Excited about My first Exhibition
Very excited about my upcoming exhibition #Frontiers as guest Artist of the Month at @kinsalehealth. Big thank you to Louise and Tracy for setting up this valuable new opportunity for local artists.
New work for framing
Great to be getting some new paintings ready for framing by Niamh @studio1kinsale
Working on new Ideas
This is a small study 16 x 12” which I’m thinking of scaling up - Needs a bit more work before I’m ready to tackle the big canvas
Just finished a painting of Winter Sunshine on Scilly walk
Here is a sample of some of the stages involved in producing this work
Self Portrait
I’ve been working on some portraits with Adrian Cooke @ Classical Art Atelier - With lockdown in place, models are difficult to organise- so a self portrait is a good solution
Next Delivery to Gallery - Before Lockdown closed us all down again
Really exceited to deliver a new piece - The Dock from Compass Hill, to @BoathouseGallery, just before Christmas. Sadly along with all other Galleries, they have had to close down to keep us all safe.
Don’t forget to support your local galleries on-line and when they open again
Old Friends
Sadly we lost Fionn, our golden retriever, just over 2 years ago. Shirley & he were best buddies, so I surprised her with this on Christmas Day
Working on Ideas
I have been looking a portraiture, - something I haven’t really done beforehand and picking up some valuable ideas from Adrian Cooke at Classical Art Atelier
Here are some sketches I completed recently
Ready to send to the Gallery
Two pictures, just framed and ready to go to #Boathouse Gallery tomorrow
Inspired by the Gouganbarra
I painted this after a recent trip to the Gouganbarra - incredible scenery and history and great inspiration. Hoping to get back there soon
Summer Sunset in Kinsale
I have just completed two paintings of the same scene, which I captured some time ago
Kinsale Arts Weekend Walking Gallery
Big Thanks to Max’s Restaurant, who will show some of my paintings in their window as part of the Kinsale Arts Weeked Walking Gallery
Looking forwards to Kinsale Arts weekend
Really excited about Kinsale Arts Weekend happening next weekend. It’s one of the first live festivals to take place since the pandemic started and been reconfigured to allow fully for social distancing, with a drive-in performance area, outdoor walking galleries as well as lots of on-line activities
The Boathouse Gallery, Kinsale
I’m delighted that Liz Timmons at the Boathouse Gallery in Kinsale has included 4 of my paintings for her new show ready for the re-opening of the gallery tomorrow Monday 8th June, after lockdown.

Finally managed to finish this scene of Kinsale Harbour and Compass Hill. It now hanging up to dry, before framing
And a little Impressionism...
Following a recent on-line demo by Martin Kinnear of the Norfolk School, I completed this study of the 12 Bens in Connemara, in the style of Cezanne & Van Gogh
Trying out new ideas
Using the lockdown to try out some new ideas.
Beth Robinson Fiddes’ use of glazing is very beautiful and i have been trying to understand her process and try it out myself: - Here’s a study of one of her works and a work-in-progress of a local Kinsale scene using similar glazing techniques
Just finished and photographed a series of new paintings, which will appear on the Website over the next few days - Enjoy!
Spring is coming...
